My favourite author…

I think Terry Pratchett is great! His books make me laugh!

Terry Pratchett is well known for his Discworld series of books. And a movie or two as well.

Let me try to describe how this works…..

O.K! Imagine a world that’s flat, not dead flat, you understand. It’s got mountains, valleys, hills oceans and all that sort of stuff. It’s just… not shperical.

This world (Discworld) is resting on the back of four very large elephants.

These four elephants are standing on the the back of the Great A’tuin (who is a very, very large turtle), swimming through space.

If you would like to know more (because you don’t believe that I’m telling the whole truth and you need to check this out for yourself), have a look at Terry Pratchett’s site.

Pratchett writes about the various characters throughout his series. You may pickup a book whose  main characters are Captain Vimes and the city watch, Granny Weatherwax and the witches or The Unseen University and the Wizards (which includes my favorite character Rincewind). Throughout the series you will get to know and love these crazy people, wearwolves, vampires, witches, golems , dwarves etc.

Many of these books are are a parody of life. The Last Continent, you will see, is a bit of a rip-off of Australia.

We have most of Terry Pratchetts books on the catalogue, and a lot are also avilable in CD book.

Give one a go! I hope you enjoy them as much as I do!
