In 2009, the state of Queensland celebrates it’s 150th birthday. In the 1850s the Australian people petitioned for a separate state.  After Queen Victoria’s approval on the 6 June 1859, Queensland was declared a state.  If you would like more information on and about Queensland including upcoming events and programs visit the Queensland government website
On Queensland day (6 June 2009) we should celebrate what it truly means to be a Queenslander… So what does Queensland mean to you? Lets take a poll.
If you ask me, there is the good:

  • The mighty Maroons
  • Pineapples and bananas
  • Sugar Cane
  • Beaches and lifesavers
  • Barrier Reef and snorkeling

There is also the bad:

  • Cyclones
  • Skin cancer
  • Cane Toads

What else does Queensland or being a Queenslander mean to you?

Loving QLD beaches, snorkeling and fishing.

  2. Sam The Dog Says:

Castle Hill, Captain Cook Highway (Cairns to Mossman) and the Cowboys. I suppose Queensland is girt by “C”.
