What next for 2009?

Now that 2008 is done and dusted, it’s time to start considering the possibilities for 2009.  We’ve had a number of lists with our favourite things of the last twelve months, but now it’s time to look forward.  What things are you most looking forward to in 2009?

I’m looking forward to the eventual release of the sixth Harry Potter movie: Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.  It’s screening was postponed last year but this July it will finally hit the big screen.  2009 will also see movie sequels such as Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, Terminator:Salvation, and X Men Origins: Wolverine released.

I know many out there will be happy that filming for New Moon starts soon, with the movie scheduled for a November 2009 release date.  There’s also the possibility, however faint, that Stephenie Meyer will finish writing the fifth book in the Twilight series Midnight Sun.  So keep your fingers crossed if you’re a Twilight fan – 2009 could be a very good year.

But in 2009 I am most looking forward to the movie adaptations of Coraline and Where the Wild Things are.  Wild Things is my favourite picture book of all time.  As for books, I’m hoping that the sixth Obernewtyn Chronicles book (possibly called The Sending) will arrive this year as well.

So write and let us know what books, movies, events or anything else that you’re looking forward to this year.

Coraline looks pretty good; it’s amazing how many big name actors they get for these animated flicks
