Holidays are almost here!

During the holidays, it can be fun to catch up on some favourite books that have been released on DVD. Anne of Green Gables, Little House on the Prairie, Hardy Boys Nancy Drew Mysteries and Jurassic Park are just a few favourites of mine.

There are also lots of graphic novels on DVD such as Transformers, Superman as Smallville, Simpsons, Futurama, and Dr Who. And for fellow trekkies, lots of Star Trek books and DVDs, too.

So whether it is a book or DVD you are looking for, the library is sure to have a copy.

One Response to “Holidays are almost here!”

  1. Kate (library staff) Says:

Melli, I love, love, love the Anne of Green Gables films. In fact, I’ve pretty much worn out my old VCR copies of the Megan Follows versions. My friends are sick of me making them watch it.

And not only do I love the films, but at least once a year, I make it my mission to re-read what is, in my opinion, the best book in the series – Rilla of Ingleside. It’s the last book, about Anne’s youngest daughter, and it’s set at the time of World War One. I read my copy so many times the pages started falling out and I had to buy a new one. It’s a great love story.

It’s been turned into an eBook, which you can read online or download from Project Gutenberg and an eAudiobook by LibriVox. (LibriVox is cool – volunteers record books and then you can download them and listen on your MP3 player – just check the Australian copyright status first.)
