Literary adventures

by

Although the Brisbane Writer’s Festival is over for another year, there is still so much to see and do in Queensland literary circles.

Why not take a look at some recent award winning books?  The Queensland Premier’s Literary Awards have been announced, with Requiem for a beast winning the Young Adult Book Award.

Want to join a book club?  Go to your nearest Gold Coast branch library for book club times and dates or check our events guide for more info.

The State Library of Queensland has a page that lists online book clubs and interactive sites for readers – check out some of the options.

Or why not get some friends together and start your own book club?  That way you can set the themes and books that you want to!  Not sure what books your book club could read?  Why not take a look at these titles…

Happy reading!

    Greetings,

I was surfing today and stumbled upon your posting regarding book clubs. I’m one of the founding partners of Booksprouts.com

We are an online book club site that is free to join, and allows members to create a club, invite friends, create meetings, and to choose and read books together online. The service is still fairly new, and we are interest in getting feedback on it, as well as getting the word out to people that may be interested in the service. We welcome you to trying out the service free of charge, and welcome to you blog or write about it – good or bad – we appreciate all feedback that helps us improve the service for our members.

Thank you, and we hope you enjoy Booksprouts.com!

Hi, some fine books won Queensland Premier’s Literary Prizes this year. I have just finished Requiem for A Beast and thoroughly enjoyed it despite the challenging subject matter: the music alone was stunning, the combination of graphics & text masterful.

I cover the Queenslands Premier’s Awards at http://www.literaryawards.com.au which is one a a number of sister sites covering the world’s book award scene. I have links to the prize from my US & UK sites to try & help spread the word overseas.

regards & thanks for the post.
